a clinical strike in the 36th minute, and Yaya Toure sent the home fans into
delirium with a composed finish seven minutes after the break.
However Manchester City brushed aside Bayern
Munich's reserve side, beating the Germans 2-0 without breaking a sweat, but
ultimately they failed to advance to the knockout rounds of the Champions
League thanks to results elsewhere going against them. That show the Bavarians
had already qualified as group leaders and were therefore in no mood to risk
injury to their key players.
